Plain-language lesson

Critical media literacy means:

  • Questioning headlines.

  • Checking sources.

  • Searching for who owns the outlet.

  • Looking for repetition across networks.

  • Asking: “Who benefits if I believe this?”

Before believing a story, ask:

  • Is it fact or opinion?

  • Who is quoted?

  • Who is blamed?

  • Who is protected or ignored?

A healthy democracy depends on citizens who read, not react.
