Social Justice Australia’s Learning Lab provides free political education courses designed to help Australians understand how government, economics, media and public policy work. The courses explain complex subjects in plain English and are intended for readers who want to examine political and economic claims more critically.

The Learning Lab covers several interconnected areas. These include how Parliament makes laws, how the Australian Government spends and raises money, the meaning of monetary sovereignty, the role of media in shaping public debate, and the development and effects of neoliberal economic policies.

Each course is organised around a specific subject so that you can work through the material at your own pace. You do not need specialist knowledge of politics or economics to begin.

The purpose is not to tell readers what political conclusions to reach. Instead, the courses aim to provide background, evidence and competing perspectives that can help readers evaluate claims, understand policy choices and form their own conclusions.
