✅ Plain-language lesson

Neoliberalism didn’t succeed because the public wanted it — it succeeded because media and political donors promoted it.

How:

  • Newspapers pushed privatisation.

  • Talk radio demonised unions.

  • Politicians took corporate donations.

  • Think tanks wrote “policy” for business interests.

The media convinced citizens that public services were “inefficient” and that business was always better.

People were led to believe there was “no alternative.”
