✅ Plain-language lesson

Politicians claim Australia “can’t afford” large-scale public housing.
That’s false.

Australia issues its own currency — the Australian dollar.
It can always create the money needed to build homes, just as it does for wars, submarines, or corporate bailouts.

The real limits are:

  • Available builders and materials.

  • Skilled workers.

  • Planning capacity.

Money is never the limit.
Public purpose is.

✅ Discussion question

Why do governments say we can’t afford housing, but can afford tax cuts for the wealthy?
