Plain-language lesson

Framing means choosing how a story is told:

  • Protesters = “troublemakers” or “concerned citizens”?

  • Tax reform = “relief” or “wealth giveaway”?

  • Cutting services = “responsibility” or “harm”?

Journalists can tell the truth while still steering opinion.

✅ Examples

  • Saying someone “denied allegations” vs “raged angrily at reporters”

  • Calling a public service “a cost” instead of “an investment”

Language carries ideology.

✅ Discussion Question
