✅ Plain-language lesson

Neoliberalism is the idea that:

  • Markets solve problems better than governments

  • Public services should be privatised

  • Government should be small

  • Profit should guide decisions

✅Definition of Neoliberalism

Neoliberalism is the commodification of everyone and everything for profit, regardless of the social or environmental harm.

It began in the 1980s and spread through both major parties.

Neoliberal promises:

  • More competition

  • Lower prices

  • Better efficiency

Real outcomes:

  • Higher costs

  • Lower wages

  • Corporate power

  • Weaker public services

Neoliberalism is not “common sense.”

It is a political project that shifts power from the public to private corporations.

✅ Discussion Question
